Guinness Trust is one of the UK’s leading housing associations. To encourage residents to decorate and maintain their own homes, they needed a secure method of paying out money for decorating.
The challenge was to find a convenient, cost-effective payment method that could only be used for approved purchases. Neither cash nor ordinary vouchers provided a workable solution.
The solution
Homebase Decorating Cards are supplied carrying no value, so there was no need for Guinness Trust to pay in advance and no security risk. Once given to a resident, they could be loaded with any value and activated within 24 hours, ready to be spent on a wide range of decorating products. They were also more flexible as the resident could spend the card’s value in either single or multiple transactions.
The results
With our help, Guinness Trust was able to move tenants into homes more quickly and so meet its own high standards as well as government targets. At the same time, they achieved significant financial savings, due to reduced waste and a more efficient use of work teams.
